Description
HC 40 Alkaline RO Membrane Cleaner
Performance:
HC 40 is a high-pH liquid cleaner designed to remove organic matter, biofouling, and particulate deposits from reverse osmosis (RO) and ultrafiltration (UF) membranes made of polysulfone, fluoropolymers, and all types of polyamide. It is also effective in nanofiltration (NF) and microfiltration (MF) systems. This high-performance cleaner helps extend membrane service life and maintain system efficiency.
Features:
-
Compatible with polyamide membranes
-
Especially effective in removing oils and organic foulants
-
Excellent at eliminating biofilm
-
Cleaning solution pH should be maintained at 10.5 ± 0.5
-
Increased temperature enhances cleaning effect
-
Liquid formula ensures fast mixing
-
Low-foaming formulation
-
Reusable without adverse effects Note: Do not use HC 40 with cellulose acetate membranes.
Product Use:
HC 40 is a blended alkaline cleaner formulated for removing organics and particulates from membrane surfaces. It is often used together with an acidic cleaner like HC 10 for regular maintenance. Soaking may be necessary depending on the fouling type. This product is not a biocide.
Dosage & Application Requirements:
-
Cleaning Equipment: Use with membrane cleaning systems recommended by the membrane manufacturer.
-
Dilution: Must be diluted before use. Recommended dosage is approx. 4 L HC 10 per 200 L of water.
-
Material Compatibility: Use corrosion-resistant materials such as PVC for storage/mixing. Pump components should also be corrosion-resistant.
Packaging:
25 kg drum
Shelf Life:
1 year
General Cleaning Procedure:
-
Inspect the cleaning tank, hoses, and cartridge filters. Replace filters if needed.
-
Fill the tank with RO permeate or deionized water. Start circulation pump or agitator.
-
Slowly add HC 40 (approx. 4 L per 200 L of water) and mix thoroughly.
-
Adjust solution temperature if below recommended level.
-
Check solution pH; it should be 10.0–11.0. Adjust if needed using NaOH or other recommended chemicals.
-
Circulate solution for 30 minutes in feed direction. Follow recommended flow and pressure (<60 psi) to avoid permeate production during cleaning. Discard the first 15% of return solution if fouling is heavy. For best results, clean each stage of multi-stage systems separately.
-
If solution becomes cloudy or pH/temperature deviates from recommended range, discard and prepare fresh solution.
-
Before restarting the system, rinse thoroughly with RO permeate.
