Cationic Polyacrylamide (CPAM)
Cationic polyacrylamide (CPAM) is a water-soluble polymer polyelectrolyte copolymerized by cationic monomers and acrylamide.
CPAM is non-toxic, odorless, easily affected by moisture, easily soluble in water, and insoluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and acetone.
CPAM has good molecular chain extension performance, good elasticity, stable relative molecular mass, uniform charge distribution, fast floc formation speed, fast separation speed, dense flocs, high strength, and good dehydration.
It is mainly used in sewage flocculation sedimentation and sludge dehydration.

Ionicity:
Ionicity is the charge density of the CPAM molecular chain. Cationicity is one of the factors that determine the flocculation effect. When dewatering sludge, if the ionicity is too low, the flocs will become very small or ineffective; if the ionicity is too high, the sludge flocs will be repelled due to excessive charge. Therefore, for the sludge to be dewatered, flocculants with different ionicity are screened through small experiments to select the best polyacrylamide, which can not only achieve good flocculant effects, but also minimize the dosage and save costs.
The key to selecting ionicity is:
(1) The size of the flocs: If the flocs are too small, the drainage speed will be affected; if the flocs are too large, the flocs will bind more water, thereby reducing the sludge biscuit degree. The size of the flocs can be adjusted by selecting the molecular weight of polyacrylamide.
(2) The strength of the flocs (water content): The flocs should remain stable and not broken under shear. Increasing the molecular weight of polyacrylamide or selecting a suitable molecular structure can help improve the stability of the flocs.
Application
1. Sludge dehydration: According to the nature of the sludge, the corresponding model of this product can be selected to effectively dehydrate the sludge before the sludge is filtered. The floc produced during dehydration is large and does not stick to the filter cloth. It does not fall apart, the mud cake is thicker, the dehydration efficiency is high, and the moisture content of the mud cake is below 80%.
2. Treatment of domestic sewage and organic wastewater: This product is electropositive in acidic or alkaline media, so it can flocculate and settle the negatively charged suspended particles in the sewage, and the clarification effect is significant. Such as the production of grain alcohol wastewater, papermaking wastewater, wastewater from urban sewage treatment plants, beer wastewater, MSG plant wastewater, sugar wastewater, wastewater with high organic content, feed wastewater, textile printing and dyeing wastewater, etc., use cationic polyacrylamide rather than use anionic polyacrylamide , non-ionic polyacrylamide or inorganic salts are several times more effective because this type of wastewater is generally negatively charged.
3. Flocculant for treating tap water with river water as the water source: less dosage, good effect, low cost, especially when combined with inorganic flocculant, the effect is better.
4. Papermaking industry: It can be used as paper dry strength agent, retention aid, filter aid, and can also be used for the treatment of white water. At the same time, during the deinking process, the flocculation effect is obvious.
5. Oil extraction: used as economical additives in oil fields, such as clay anti-swelling agent and thickening agent for oil field acidification.

Usage Instructions:
1、For different applications, the optimal dosage should be determined through testing.
Alcohol Plants / MSG Plants / Sugar Factories / Meat Processing Plants / Beverage Factories: Use at a dosage of 0.3%, 3-5 grams per ton.
Textile Factories / Dyeing Plants: Can be used for dewatering the residual active sludge from dyeing wastewater or as a flocculant for decolorizing dyeing wastewater (weak cationic polyacrylamide).
Paper Mills: Can be used as a retention aid and filtration aid in papermaking. For wastewater treatment, first add polyaluminum chloride (PAC) and then add polyacrylamide.
Pharmaceutical Wastewater: Use strong cationic polyacrylamide (above 60°C).
Municipal Wastewater Treatment: Use cationic polyacrylamide (around 50°C).
Filter Presses: Use medium to high cationic polyacrylamide.
Leather Factories: Use cationic polyacrylamide (above 50°C).
Thermal Power Plants: Use cationic polyacrylamide.
Phosphating Wastewater: First add lime milk to adjust the pH, then add polyacrylamide.
Pharmaceutical Wastewater: Can be used in the production fermentation process (0.2% dosage).
2. When used alone, it should be prepared into a dilute solution, and the general concentration is 0.1-0.3% (referring to solid content). Neutral, low-hardness water should be used for dissolution, and the water should not contain suspended matter and inorganic salts.
3. When treating different sewage or sludge, appropriate products should be selected according to the treatment process and water quality. The dosage of the agent should be determined according to the concentration of the treated water or the water content of the sludge.
4. Carefully select the placement point and stirring speed to ensure that the dilute polyacrylamide solution is evenly placed and to avoid the breakage of the flocs.
5. Equipment in contact with the solution should be made of stainless steel, plastic, fiberglass or carbon steel with resin on the surface.
6. After the solution is prepared, it should be used as soon as possible. After more than 24 hours, the use effect will decrease.
7. It is recommended to use low-hardness water with a neutral pH value (6-9) to dissolve polyacrylamide. Using groundwater and recycled water to dissolve will reduce the use effect of the product.
